What to Expect?

Of course Bali will have a totally different culture compared to the Canadians, so be prepared for the culture shock!

1. Balinese people really enjoy eating with their bare hands and Canadians might see it as uncivilized and “dirty”. However it’s their customs/culture and its how almost the majority of people in Bali eat! Don’t be rude about it and just accept the way they eat, or you can always try it too!!!!!
2. When communicating with Balinese people, remember that they directly like to get personal, and ask very personal questions immediately that might make you uncomfortable. Just answer politely or sometimes reply with a; “ sorry I’m not able to answer that”

3. When visiting local places, not all Balinese people will speak English. Therefore body language can always be useful or learning main important words in their language.
4.  As there are three million people who call Bali home are Hindu – you will not find many or no meals with beef. Therefore, if you’re a regular beef eater – try something new!
5. If visiting the famous Hindu temples you are expected to be properly dressed, including wearing long pants or a sarong with a sash tied around the waist. Also, women who are menstruating are not allowed in sacred places. Just accept their culture and considerate the certain rules and customs applied.
6. Like most developing countries/regions, Bali does have beggers and they are usually woman with one or more kids. Try to be respectful to them and try to help if you can, but try not to be overwhelmed by them!

Balinese take great pride in their culture, and they are proud to share it with visitors, so enjoy!
